Fishing Differently Ecosystem
Oikos Institute for Social Impact will connect faith-inspired leaders and place-based investors to help anchor institutions, such as faith communities and BIPOC organizations, harness the power of their assets for communal transformation and economic mobility. Our asset-based approach to community development aims to accelerate the relief of distressed communities; alleviate human suffering; maximize human capital; and solve social problems.
Distressed Communities
Those experiencing structural inequities; disproportionate unemployment, wealth inequality, and gentrification.
Faith Inspired Leaders
Those inspired to make positive changes that solve or at least address social injustice and relieve human suffering.
Place-Based Investors
Address the needs of neighborhoods and regions that are underserved and under-funded.
Anchor Institutions
Those embedded in the ecosystem of the community that possess a strong connection as well as a depth of knowledge and understanding of their community needs and circumstances. Anchor Institutions, such as faith communities and BIPOC organizations, possess underutilized real estate, lack of access to funding, and lack of mission-aligned development consultation and preparation to bring vital community service providing projects to fruition.

The Oikos Institute for Social Impact acknowledges and celebrates individuals within Black Church and Historically Black Educational Institutions (HBEI’s) who exhibit innovative approaches to community service at our Fishing Differently™ Impact Awards/Gala and Conference.

They address a range of critical issues, such as food insecurity, affordable housing, childcare accessibility, and recidivism.
